Nayeria
Sharon
In deep, raspy voices, the woodland fairy children mock the name, “Nay…er…ia.”
There is much childish play around this legendary creature. Stories explain that the beast they also call the Black Death slithered out of the Gates of the Seventh Realm in a time when the white hatted wizards were young.
Many believe she is fictional, just songs and games that children create. Yet, there are those who believe she has killed before and could kill again if the gates are re-opened for a period of time.
The bards of the Emerald Forest have many tales about her including a particular time when the black and white hatted wizards worked together. They tell the tale of betrayal from wizards.
In front of the gate the black hats lined up on one side and faced the white hats on the other. In pairs they said different spells as twenty-one locks fell to the ground.
The air rushed past the metal structure and swirled around Nayeria’s egg awakening her. Immediately she began to peck her way out.
Emerging she fluffed up her feathers around her head. Then stretched out her serpent body. A snake tongue flicked out with a hiss as she quietly, swiftly, slithered through the gate.
The small animals were defenseless and their deaths helped her grow as she bit and sucked the blood from the fast decaying bodies.
It only took her a couple of days to make her way to a thick forest along a river. Hearing voices she became invisible but continued moving even closer. Eleven brown-hatted wizards had set up camp.
This story has many endings but most agree the eleven wizards disappeared, Nayeria was somehow ended back behind the gate, and Casper the white hatted wizard knows what really happened. He has never talked about it. He sits alone in the white wizard tower.
Be afraid, young children and adults of the Emerald Forest because on April 12th the gates will re-open. Again the wizards will betray us.
In order to defeat this young beast all are summoned from the forest.
The wizards send for the warriors.
The warriors gather the familiars and woodland fairies.
Believe me when I tell you.
“One will die.
One from the forest will find a strength greater than magic.
One will figure out what happened to the eleven wizards and use it against Nayeria.
And one will have to decide if she is on the side of good or evil.”
Hedge wizard Casper of the garden found his friends in the morning and fought Nayeria who had grown much during the night.
Nayeria escaped and Casper desperately tried to save the last two wizards but they each died in his arms.
The white hat wizard went crazy with rage. He went after Nayeria with all the magical power he could create calling. Forcefully he put her back behind the gate of the Seventh Realm and went back to the Emerald Forest to his deceased friends.
Their black and decomposed bodies were found at what is now the intersection of Noxi Road and Iota Path in the Emerald Forest.
In shock Casper burned their bodies and scattered their ashes. Then he went back to the white wizard tower. He sits alone staring out the window. Sometimes he whispers, “peace.” He doesn’t remember what he did after he closed the gate to the Seventh Realm. He only remembers seeing their dead decaying bodies and feeling the last breath of his best friends. On his arms are several wounds that won’t heal. A daily reminder of Nayeria.
When the gate to the Seventh Realm was recently opened on April 12th Nayeira began to develop inside her egg. Several days later she slithered into the world with the Kitsune beast. The killings began.
This time it will take all living things in the Emerald Forest to fight her. The wizards have summoned the warriors. The warriors have brought their familiars. The woodland fairies have selected their weapons.
One has fought her before.
One will need to find inner courage to live.
One will have to decide if they are on the side of good or evil.
