Reality and illusions blend together in the Emerald Forest. On its west side it borders the Brown Wizard Delt and the Two way River. It continues eastward towards the White Wizard Tower. Rabbit Lake is found to the south.
The forest is much lighter on the west side as clusters of trees and bushes are spaced apart with many flowers near the ground. Here there are unique birds, animals, and insects that are stolen by poachers such as gossip beetles, whisper butterflies, purple loons, peek-a-boo birds, blue river rats, rockies, and nightsky wolves.
Warrior Kathleen and the Jadeites patrol this area keeping it safe. They protect rare plants such as the fascination plants, crystal moss, and the black oak trees.
The east side of the forest has a thick canopy above and dense flora below make it difficult to walk through. This area is known for its poisonous plants and deadly animals such as spiked snake vine, giant sloths, and midnight spiders.
The Emerald Forest is where Kathleen lives with her group of females called the Jadeites. Their camp is hidden and has not been found by outsiders. The Jadeites take an oath for life to protect all plants, birds, and animals of the forest. They all have the same tattoo on their arm.
The legendary battle with the Nightmare Imp beast and warrior Kathleen took place in the Emerald Forest.
The Chunky River runs from south to north through the middle of the forest. It got its name from the blue river rats which build new nests each spring. When the blue river rat babies no longer need a nest they are abandoned and eventually the ground collapses and falls into the river making it wider.
The Two Way River runs along the west side of Rabbit Lake by the Brown Wizard Delta. This river can change its direction at any time. There is a large marsh here where Hedge Wizard Keziah lives.
Noxi Road runs west to east along the southern border of the forest. Eleven wizards disappeared on this road many decades ago and have never been found. Noxi means “number eleven”. It is believed that Hedge Wizard Casper of the Garden knows what happened to those wizards but isn’t talking. He won’t leave the White Wizard Tower.
The Iota Path runs through the middle of the forest along the right side of the Chunky River. The path can disappear and reappear at any time. This path got its name from the founding families of the town of Almanac. They said the forest was dangerous and if you travel north they don’t care one iota if you come back. Today the town is known for its kindness and willingness to help strangers. They absolutely do care if you come back for a visit.
At the beginning of the Emerald Forest in the south is the town of Almanac. It is the place where Noxi Road and Iota Path intersect. It is named after a plant that grows along the banks of the Chunky River. This plant’s flowers change colors each month of the year. Almanac plants tell you what month it is by the color of their blossoms and their scent.
Shops located at the crossroads of the town of Almanac are: Horis Mercantile Shop, Odren Livery and Stables, Dark Horse Tavern, and Morana Trading Post. These businesses are named after the four wizard families who started Almanac as a village. These families stayed after giving up trying to find their missing family members who were part of the missing eleven. The village has now turned into a town. Summoner Goober lives in town and is always causing trouble.
The Emerald Forest was named decades ago by two kobolds named Igi and Ogi. These two liked the color emerald and started calling it the Emerald Forest and it stuck. There are no emeralds in this forest however there are some jade rocks. There are no records of the real name of the forest and no one remembers. Some think the woodland fairies know because they have lived in the forest longer than the wizards.
The woodland fairy community lives on the westside of the Chunky River. There are fifteen fairy families, each one named after a type of tree.
There are wizards who live in the forest and most of them don’t want visitors such as Alchemist Zane, Enchanter Daphne, Shaman Lumos, Illusionist Asmodeus, and Hedge Wizard Keziah. On the border of this area live Enchanter Galatea with her family.
Shaded Spectre Lucinda roams the Emerald Forest trying her best to cause as much chaos as possible. She makes people sing her song to find her and then enjoys tricking them.
It is said that once you visit this forest it will softly call you back like a song you can’t get out of your head.
