After wandering for days the little chimera cub sat down under the shade of a black oak tree in the Emerald Forest. The goat head tucked behind the lion head while the snake tail curled around both and they went to sleep.

Exhausted from traveling the young beast’s paw and snake tail twitched as he dreamed of his life a week earlier. He had been playing with his brothers and sisters under the watchful care of his dad, the great Chaos Chimera beast. 

“Don’t go near that gate” warned his dad. The young cubs had heard that warning so many times that they just tuned him and continued to play. 

Zunik was busy pouncing on anything that moved including his tail. He didn’t realize how close he was to the gate on that April morning. It was the noise of the first lock opening that caught his attention. It was enchanting to watch twenty-one of them snap open and ping to the ground. 

When the gate exploded open his dad charged and roared through it. Zunik puffed out his chest, growled and followed his dad only to be exploded into a world he didn’t know. He landed unconscious with a thud into some bushes. 

The lion head woke first and cuddled and licked the goat head until it bleated. Both heads looked around and noticed the gate was shut with all the locks back in place. No one was around and there was no trace of dad.

After a few minutes the young beast stood up and sniffed the air and set off in a north easterly direction. 

He didn’t know where he was going but when he finally got to a shaded spot that felt safe he went to sleep.
