Scene IV: The Blade and the Lesson
Casey didn't wait for a command. With a guttural roar, the demon launched herself, moving as a black streak, impavid and fearless, charging the colossal shadow. Her dark blade sliced through the air with devastating velocity, aimed for the pulsating green eyes. She expected resistance.
The blade passed straight through.
There was no sound, no effect whatsoever. The shadow didn't even ripple. It was an object made purely of negative space and fear, completely immune to the demon’s weapon. Casey stumbled, shocked by the total void.
Bathsheba, who had instinctively braced herself, screamed out: “Casey, wait! Stop! It’s useless! It’s made of shadow—you can’t cut a void!”
The shadow’s enormous form stretched and wavered, pleased, and a cold, chilling laugh resonated from it, a sound that cracked like massive slabs of ice. It was a laugh of pure contempt.
The Shadow: “The weapon is dull. Your attempt to harm me is amusing. It is my turn now.”
