In the southwest region of The Wild lies a calm and friendly forest known as Hedge Wizard Wood. These woodlands serve as excellent training grounds for student wizards and beginners in the arcane arts. The trees contain traces of magic that seep down from The Fey, and the few fairy folk who venture here are more agreeable than their northern counterparts. Gnomes are particularly prevalent in the region, as are occasional traveling fungi.
The wood teems with plants and animals, all unusually friendly to visitors. Even the bears and wolves seem more inclined to offer a smile or nod to lone travelers rather than consider them prey. In the deeper parts of the wood, some animals are said to have gained human-like intelligence along with the ability to speak. These creatures have been rumored to gather for picnics in small groves during the warm afternoon sunlight.
