Black Oak Trees 

These rare trees grow on the westside of the Emerald Forest. They are the oldest trees of the forest and can grow upwards of hundred feet.

Black mold grows over the tan bark until the trunk and branches are covered. Black Oak Trees have gnarly roots that spread across the forest floor. 

Many animals like to make their burrows under these roots, including Fire Foxes. The Gossip Beetles tunnel into the dirt around the roots. The Onyx owl usually make their nests on the top branches. 

The Crystal Moss plants can be found around the roots of the Black Oak Tree as well as the poisonous plant, the Spiked Snake Vine which likes to grow up the bark.

These trees are cared for by the Oak family of the woodland fairies. Warrior Kathleen and the Jadeites try to keep the seeds from leaving the forest.

Empress Carly has acquired the seeds from these trees illegally and is planting them near the Red Wizard Capital.  She wants to make oak barrels from them for her two types of Rum. 

Legend has it if you place you palm on the trunk and hold it there you will feel a calmness and healing of your soul.
