East of the Redhorn Wood, deep within the jagged Troll Mountains, stands the Hall of the Mountain King. Hewn directly into the mountain rock by methods long forgotten, the Hall has endured for ages, its massive gates and echoing corridors are a mystery even to the oldest wizards.

The throne belongs to the colossal King of Trolls—fearsome, cunning, and dangerous beyond measure. He is more than a brute of stone and flesh; he sits upon hoards of gold, artifacts of forgotten eras, and magic so potent that even seasoned wizards dare not covet it openly. To face him in battle would be folly, yet to ignore him entirely is to forfeit the possibility of profound power.

And so, across the Runiverse, Wizards come bearing tribute: coins, relics, tomes, and offerings of rare magic. In exchange, the Mountain King sometimes grants insight—strange visions, fragments of forgotten spells, or cryptic truths delivered in a rumbling voice. The price is never certain, and many leave with less than they offered, but still they come.

The King’s only true acquaintance is Krampus, a figure both ally and rival. Their meetings shake the mountains with laughter and quarreling alike, for theirs is a bond forged in equal parts respect and conflict. On rare nights, the Nightmare Imp also slips into the Hall, sowing whispers and schemes, tolerated by the King only because the mountain itself seems to welcome it.

The Hall remains one of the most dangerous yet alluring places in the Troll Mountains: a seat of riches, power, and peril, ruled by a troll whose shadow stretches far beyond the cliffs he calls home.
